PEA's new Executive Director

Piedmont Environmental Alliance is proud to announce that Christine (Chris) Griffith has joined the staff as the organization's executive director. Chris brings decades of nonprofit leadership experience and she is a successful fundraiser and community organizer. Her dedication to the environment is matched only by her dedication to the growth and prosperity of the Piedmont community.

Most recently, as the executive assistant to Phil Hanes, Chris devoted 10 years to designing, managing, and implementing a variety of civic, charitable, and philanthropic projects and initiatives to revitalize downtown Winston-Salem. She received the honorary title of Deputy Commissioner of Cultural Affairs from the City of Winston-Salem. She was also awarded the Downtown Excellence Award in 2010, by the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership.

Since moving to North Carolina from Oklahoma in the mid-80s, she has served as the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations for the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Executive Director of the Winston-Salem Symphony, and Executive Director of the High Point Arts Council.

Chris lives in Winston-Salem's West End with her husband John, three dogs, and one cat. She is an avid gardner and gives wonderful tours of her seasonal gardens around her home.

Please take the opportunity to meet Chris at the Piedmont Environmental Alliance Annual Meeting on Thursday, November 8 at 7pm, at Family Services (1200 South Broad Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101).
