September 2, 2023 -
1:30pm to 4:30pm
West Riverside Park, 1306 Andrew Hunter Rd, Franklinville, North Carolina 27248

Join Mary Joan Pugh, Randolph County Trail Coordinator, and Harvey Harman, of the Living Well Community and Deep River Folk School, for a hike across Piedmont Land Conservancy protected land along the Deep River State in Franklinville. Meet at the West Riverside Park parking lot at 1306 Andrew Hunter Rd, Franklinville, NC to begin a 4-mile hike from the Faith Rock Loop Trail and continuing on the Deep River State Trail down to the future location on the Sandy Creek bridge and back to the parking area, including a quick stop at the Living Well Ecovillage along the trail.

The route will stay close to the Deep River and is primarily flat except for the short climb up to Faith Rock which features a beautiful view of the river. A short portion of the trail will be in full sun but it will mostly be shaded. Mary Joan and Harvey will share about the growing movement for trails in Randolph County and the history of how the Deep River State Trail was created in Franklinville and also some of the additional benefits that go beyond the recreational value of the trail. PLC is the official non-profit partner for the Deep River State Trail.

This outing has a limit of 30 participants. Registration is required.
