So you want to support the environment, but you don't have a ton of time? You came to the right place! Here are 3 easy ways to get more involved in the environmental movement this Spring.
1. Sign a Petition or Call your Senators to Influence Policy
Sign the Sierra Club’s petition to support a Green New Deal, or participate in their efforts to call the offices of Senators to let them know about your support! Reaching out to Representatives and Senators is an amazing way to let your voice be heard while supporting the protection and conservation of our environment. Plus, this simple action can change how our elected officials vote when we all band together for a common cause. Click here to participate.
2. Meet local environmentalists at Green Drinks Winston-Salem
Come to Green Drinks at Fiddlin' Fish Brewing Company on the first Thursday of each month. It's a fun event with good drinks, and a chance to connect with other people interested in saving the environment. What's even more exciting is that a portion of the profits will be donated to local environmental advocacy groups! Check out the Facebook event now and RSVP that you are interested in going!
3. Commit to one waste-reducing action this month
Check out these other blogs on our website: 10 Small and Totally Achievable Environmental New Year's Resolutions, Waste-Free Resolutions, and Recycling Outside of the Blue Bin for some great ideas. Some highlights are: carry a reusable coffee mug with you whenever you go to a coffee shop, switch to reusable straw and recycle your batteries through an organization like The Big Green Box.
