Heyward Douglass, Executive Director of the Foothills Conservancy, will give an overview of hiking and backpacking on the trail. Key Points of the Foothills Trail Guidebook, Official Map and supplemental Pocket Profile will be discussed. Flora and fauna and the impressive scenery you might encounter along the trail will be featured. You'll learn how critical volunteers are to keeping the trail in excellent shape. Heyward Douglass has served on the Board of Directors of Foothills Trail Conference since 1989. He served as chair from 1999-2005 and became Executive Director of the Conservancy in 2012. He's hiked the Foothills Trail 8 times and thru hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2011.
