Join past Piedmont Land Conservancy board president, Dr. Will Truslow, an experienced paddler and area historian for a 5.5 mile paddle trip down the Dan River.
Bring your own kayak or canoe, paddle, life vest, windbreaker, food/water, sun protection and wear quick-dry, synthetic clothing.
The outing will begin at the Pitzer Road Public Fishing Area at 1285 Pitzer Rd, Walnut Cove, NC 27052. The group will meet at the put in and then shuttle cars to the take out prior to paddling. The paddle will take about 3 1/2 hours.
This trip is 5.5 miles and is Class I which is appropriate for those with some prior paddling experience. The Great Wagon Road crossed twice along this section of the Dan River. This segment of the river is very scenic with large boulders seen along with a 160 foot cliff.
The trip has space for 25 paddlers.
