Film Viewing and Expert Panel Discussion

July 13, 2023 - 5:45pm
Weatherspoon Art Museum, UNCG

Haw River Assembly will be showing the film "Burned" and host an expert panel discussion after the film to address the ongoing fight against PFAS–widely used, long lasting chemicals that cause harmful health effects in humans and animals.

The film follows the story of Diane Cotter, whose husband, Paul, a firefighter of 27 years at the time, was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Cotter’s concern led her to question the materials used in Paul’s gear, which had been made using PFAS/PFOA and further sheds light on the numerous firefighters battling cancer.
