In 2015 a one acre rendition of a piedmont prairie was created at Sarah P Duke Gardens, which is managed through fire and mowing. In 2019 they turned their attention to urban landscapes and started to evaluate the suitability of piedmont prairie plants in parking lot medians with the goal of creating pollinator habitats. Annabel Renquck, Curator of Blomquist Garden of Native Plants, aims to describe both projects and discuss the outcomes to date, specifically the components that worked well and those that have been more problematic.
